NEW ENERGY VEHICLE (NEV)

E-car or EV (Electric Vehicle) are the common terms for electric vehicles. But there is another term that you may not be familiar with: NEV. NEV stands for "New Energy Vehicle" and is a comprehensive term for all vehicles powered by energy sources that are an alternative to fossil fuels. This includes all types of electric vehicles, from battery-powered fully electric vehicles (BEV) to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).

BEV – battery electric vehicles

Battery electric vehicles are fully electric.

They are powered exclusively by a battery that drives an electric motor to set the vehicle in motion. This battery is charged externally via a charger installed at your home or in public. As it has no combustion engine, it emits no exhaust fumes into the environment.

PHEV – Plug-in hybrid vehicles

Plug-in electric vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor.

This type of NEV is powered by electricity until the battery charge is exhausted. The combustion engine then switches on. PHEVs can be charged externally with a home charger or at a public charging station. This type of alternative drive is a good option for those who regularly drive very long distances, because when the battery is empty, you drive with the combustion engine.
