The BYD Blade battery
For over 30 years, BYD has been a pioneer in battery research and manufacturing and was founded in 1994 as a rechargeable battery manufacturing company. The new, groundbreaking blade battery in the BYD Seal is a real game changer. It has passed even extreme tests under the toughest conditions with flying colors and is therefore considered one of the safest batteries in the world.
Increased safety
The basic raw material, lithium iron phosphate, ensures very slow heat build-up and low heat radiation. The flat rectangular shape of the cells also improves cooling and pre-heating efficiency. The blade battery has also safely passed the so-called "nail penetration test" – without developing smoke or even fire. The reason for this is that the surface temperature only reaches 30 to 60 °C.
More range & longer service life
The blade battery offers over 50% more range compared to conventional batteries. It is also characterized by a long service life of more than 5000 charge and discharge cycles.
Rigidity
Thanks to its revolutionary design, the Blade battery offers superior strength and stability against impact shocks, such as those that can occur in an accident.
